or do I just trust the seatbelts if they are supposed to retract and lock. The car is a 2000 Altima.

It doesn't *need* a locking clip, the shoulderbelts will just retract. But...if the shoulderbelts are powerful strong, this may happen http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/TippyScenera All I did was hit the brakes, I swear! Thank god she slept through it :ROTFLMAO: But nothing like this EVER happened with the same kind of seatbelt in grandma's S80 Volvo, so I was shocked and surprised. There's a locking clip on the seat (or in the manual bag) when you buy it, you won't have to do any extra shopping, at least.
Wow, that would scare me. I'm so used to Britaxes that a locking clip is like a foreign object, but I will have to become familiar with it just in case.
