My (almost 1 yr old) daughter loves the take n toss sippies but has begun throwing them on the floor and the tops come off. Any recommendations for another valveless sippy with safe plastic? I was thinking that we might need an insulated set for summer too. I love take n toss and I think introducing a valve would confuse her now, do you all agree?

DS (who is now 2) also threw his tnt sippies, but it was a reasonably short-lived phase, once I stopped picking them up and giving them back to him. I used some insulated nuby straw cups, but didn't like having to take all the parts apart to clean.

I only use BPA-free cups for my 1 year old son and I use the Avent Magic Cup, but take out the valve. My son likes to gulp his drinks, so anything that is spill-proof just makes him frustrated. I also use the First Years Tumble Mates.

For a list of BPA-fee cups, check out this website:

I asked a similar question not long ago because my DH always lost valves, etc., and I was looking for the simplest cups that are also "safe" plastic. We went with the First Years insulated cups (RC2 Brands, Inc.) The tops screw on, so they don't pop off, and there are no valves. The only thing I don't love about them is that they all seem to be licensed character designs. We've got Disney Princesses, Cars, and Elmo. I think I have seen Thomas cups too, and Nemo, but I only saw the Nemo cups online.

I highly recommend the First Years SpillProof Cup, http://www.learningcurve.com/product/detail/Y1805A.

From the company website, I can't tell the kind of plastic it's made of. However if I understand correctly, this cup should be safe because it’s opaque?! Please correct me if I am wrong.
