View Full Version : Toilet Issue

My 18-month old has a new fascination with the toilet. He wants to splash in it; he wants to put things in it (like an entire roll of unfurled toilet paper); he wants to flush it.

When his elder brother went through the same phase, the solution was simple...put locks on the toilets.

The problem now is that this elder brother (age 3 1/2) tends to wait until the last minute to run to the bathroom, and hasn't figured out how to unlatch the lock. Getting him to use the potty has been a difficult enough road, and I don't want to make it even more of a challenge. Yet I need to find a way to stop DS2 from playing in the toilet.

Any suggestions?

I've never left my bathrooms open. Once dd trained, she tells me and I open the door for her(they have knob covers). It can be a hassle sometimes but I don't consider the bathroom a safe place for the kids to be allowed to play.
