Can anyone recomend a list of products (brands) that I should purchase for my twins? I went to register and it was too overwhelming for me. This is my first and I am having twins.

We also have on loan: Fisher Price Aquarium swings, bouncers, papasan & a bassinett.

I also registered at www.babygreenpea.com, www.diapers.com and www.northernessence.com and www.manhattantoy.com.

They're already received a TON of 3-6 month clothes which seems to be the popular choice for gift-giving so I'd definitely hold off on buying that size.

Hope that helps a bit - this is all new for us so I made sure to keep receipts in case we need to exchange or return some things.

I highly recommend the Podee bottles - the bottle itself is not BPA free but you can attach the podee mechanism to a Gerber clearview bottle.

Love love love the Podee!

Thanks for this great list! I am also a first time Mom expecting twin girls in October. We are thrilled, but also sooooo overwhelmed by what to get, what to register for... I am scouring the boards here for recommendations/ideas and it's been a huge help!

If you don't already have it, definitely pick up a copy of the Baby Bargains book. I don't think it specifies numbers for twins, but it helps to cut through the vast majority of needs/non-needs. (And yep, these boards are a source of a lot of the information! But also, book sales are what allow the Fields to offer this site!)

It's still worth discussing what numbers of things are needed for twins vs. a singleton, but if you're starting with the registry and nothing else, grab the book!

Congrats on upcoming Oct twin girls!

My twins are now 2 months old & I just wanted to give you an update on what I'm ACTUALLY using;

Swan/Baby Trend Double Snap n Go - best purchase yet!
Graco Snugride Infant Car seats - Metropolitan (2) - these are great
Zooper Tango double stroller - haven't used yet
Siena Snack Tray from Carryyou.com - haven't purchased yet

Ragazzi (the original from Quebec) cribs (2) - love this
Organic Cotton Mattress Pad (2) - works fine
Arms Reach Co-Sleeper (1) - love this
Bonavita Dresser/changer - love this
Changing pad (don't remember brand - BRU) - great
Changing pad covers from Gus & Max - just bought ones from BRU
Bamboosa Bamboo crib sheets - bought sheets from local store
Ashley Furniture Microsuede Rocker/Recliner - not in the nursery yet - using in family room

Baby Bjorn Air carriers (2) - twins both love Bjorn
Infantino Sling (2) - returned - didn't like them at all
...have 2 ring slings in addition to the Bjorn
Graco Contempo Highchair - Kasbah (2) - haven't used yet
BornFree 2-Pack 5-oz Wide Neck Bottles (2) - don't really like these - there are 7 parts that need to be washed; I returned 1 pack and am now using ThinkBabyBottles - LOVE those
Adiri Stage 1 Bottles (4) - they were fine until I stopped BFing and then nipples are now too short for the twins' taste
Green to Grow Bottles (4) - got ThinkBabyBottles instead
...I don't really know how BFing will go or what bottles they will like so I registered for a few different brands
Luna Lullaby Bosom Baby (bfing pillow) (1) - I'd go with a pillow actually made for twin BFing
The First Years Spin and Store Drying Rack - this is great!
2 + 2 Baby Feeder Starter Kit - haven't used yet
Tiny Diner Placemat (2) - returning
Prince Lionheart Infant Dishwasher Basket (2) - returning - I don't actually have enough bottles to warrant running the D/W
3PK MULTI LAP/BURP PAD - bought more!
4PK SNACK CUP - haven't used yet
Non-toxic Fresh Baby Food & Milk Trays 2 Pk - returned
Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Flatfold (as burp cloths) (2) - bought more!

Bright Starts: Baby's PlayPlace (play mat) (1) - twins enjoying this
Boppy® Tummy Play™ Play Pad - 1 blue; 1 pink - this is "ok"

Exergen Temporal Scanner Temporal Artery Thermometer (1) - haven't used yet
Vicks Warm Mist Humidifier (1) - haven't used yet
Safety 1st Complete Healthcare Kit - haven't purchased yet

The First Years Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn-to-Toddler Tub by Learning Curve - this is great

SwaddleMe Adjustable Infant Wrap - Organic Ivory (Small)
SwaddleMe Adjustable Wrap- Ivory (Preemie) - don't know what I'd do without these!!!

Seventh Generation 80 Ct Tub of Chlorine Free Baby Wipes
Pampers Swaddlers - newborn & Size 1
....I do not like 7th Generation after using 900+ wipes - don't like the smell (even though it's fragrance-free) and they are all too dry
...Pampers have been working out just fine for us

TUMI Vista Boarding Tote - diaper bag - LOVE it but will also be getting a backpack
...I also bought Ju Ju Be Connect Me diaper bag hooks which work great
Patemm pads (changing pad) - haven't used yet as I was given a SkipHop changing pad/wipe holder

All the FP toys have been a life-saver; I bought an extra bouncer/vibrator because they both like it.

I now also have a Diaper Champ, monitors (a must as I learned last night when baby girl started choking on spit up - I wouldn't have known if I hadn't heard her gagging/gurgling!).

I think that about covers it!

My twin girls are 19 months old and I SO remember the completely overwhelmed feeling of "what do we need?" I feel like we have really gotten a lot of use out of most of our initial investments/gifts, but it can be hit or miss...here are my FAVORITES:

The Primo Eurobath...can't say enough about it. Believe it or not, we used it from infant and are STILL using it now at 19 months! One of the best items we have, holds the baby so you can reach for whatever you need. I was able to bathe one baby while the other was nearby in a swing or whatever.

SwaddleMes, Halo sleepsacks: bedtime routine is really important and these helped us establish one. Swaddled them as long as physically possibly, then switched to Halo. They still sleep each and every nap and bedtime in their Halo sleep sacks, and they love them!

2 boppies/2 bouncy seats/2 bumbos/ 2 exersaucers---these 4 sets of items were vital...used the boppies and bouncy seats for bottle feeding both at once, bumbos we LOVE LOVE LOVE, forget the recalls and the hype, just be careful and stay nearby. Exersaucers made them happy, and I could actually go use the bathroom.

Leachco Keep-it-up Bottle Prop---I didn't get these till they were like 6 months old...really wish I'd had them from the get-go. Teaches them to hold the bottle sooner, and gives you the chance to burp one, or flip the tv, or just lean back for a minute!

It was nice to have the Graco twin pack 'n play for traveling when they were little (although we didn't do it much), then we ended up having to get a second one once they outgrew it.

I would recommend the diaper champ over the diaper genie.

From someone who in 19 short months has gone through 7 double strollers, I give you this advice:
Get a snap 'n go and use it as long as possible, while researching your BIG stroller investment. Find which good stroller will meet your needs: Mountain Buggy Urban Double, Baby Jogger, and BOB duallie are each highly rated. We finally got my dream stroller: Baby Jogger City Series Double, and I wish I had just forked over the several hundred dollars rather than trying to get by with cheaper ones.
As far as carseats go, I wish that I had bought the snugride over the safeseats. I bought the SS because of the higher weight limit, but I would up getting tired of carrying them around way before they hit the weight limit and went straight to Britax marathons. SO I wish I'd had the snugrides because I wouldn't have been lugging around such a big and heavy carseat in the first place, YKWIM?

If you have the option of buying glass bottles, I would do so because of the whole BPA thing.

My biggest piece of advice would be to buy equipment used when possible, and clothes too. I've been able to buy stuff used at yard sales and then turn around and re-sell them for the same price or more once we've outgrown them. It's a great way to save money since you have to buy double anyway. Craigslist is a great resource!

Sorry all that was very sloppy and disjointed, but I was just throwing some stuff out there off the top of my head. Congratulations on your twins, it is a huge responsibility and blessing to be a twin-mama! If you have any other questions about the items I mentioned, or anything else, I'd love to help!

This is a great thread! I have a question, it may be a dumb one to some, but I am going to be a new mom and I have no idea what a lot of stuff is yet. Boppy products....I see boppy being suggested a lot but I am confused about which product is being recommended.

Thanks!

With no other qualifier, a Boppy is the Boppy nursing pillow -- sort of a crescent-shaped thing.

My most used items:

Baby Trend Double Snap n Go - makes getting out with the babes super easy!!
Graco Snugride Infant Car seats - love these car seats.
If you are nursing: the ez2 nurse pillow is a must.
Two boppies - these are great for tummy time. also we bottle feed both of them using these pillows.
Two bouncy seats. Essential in our house. i could actually use four of them since we live in a two story house and having two on each floor would be great. My boys have reflux so they need to be upright and we let them sleep in these.
Dr. Brown's polypropylene bottles. The best!
pampers swaddlers.
triple paste dipe cream
swing (we have one full swing and one travel swing)
pack n play (we have two)
cloth diapers for burp clothes
soothie pacifiers
zippered pjs (zippers are so much easier than those pesky snaps - hanna makes some and w'eve gotten some cheaper ones at target too)

Least used items:
our diaper champ - we used this 3 years ago for our daughter only. The boys get changed on the pack n play changing station. We throw out their dirties in our garbage in the garage.

bottle warmer - I own one and have never used it. Running bottles under hot water works fine.
