ds' 3rd birthday is coming and i wanted to get some non-candy favors. i was thinking of a bucket/pail filled with sidewalk chalk, crayons or paint, an apron (art theme).

where can i find buckets cheap enough to fill for favors?

alternatively i was also thinking of getting MOO stickers for the kiddies since I have access to all their pictures online. tacky?

Is it too early in the year for dollar stores to have buckets in stock?

I got the buckets at Target and then filled them with sand toys for $1 each, also from Target. I think the chalk and crayons sound like fun, not sure I'd appreciate my kids coming home with paint - make sure it's the washable kind at least! Or how about playdoh?

I just saw tons of them at Party City, all different sizes and prices.

I just bought some great ones at Party City also. About half the size of a regular sand pail. I am going to put names on them for our Easter Party at preschool and fill them with Easter goodies.

Michael's has had some cute ones for $1. They include a shovel. Usually have $1 foam sticker sets to decorate them. A friend used those for a Blue's Clues party to give everyone a red pail and yellow shovel.
