I just purchased 72 white unscented votive candles and clear glass holders on eBay from Seller: "quickcandles" for $50 ($35 + $15 for shipping Fed Ex Ground) (=$0.70/candle & holder). The candles arrived today (3 days) in excellent condition and the seller was great to deal with. This was cheaper than cudge.net which also has similar prices for candles + holders, but shipping costs a little more (if you live near NYC, you can pick-up from cudge.net and avoid the shipping costs). Regarding "quickcandles" on eBay, I recommend the "buy now" option at the $34.99 price, I first tried to bid in the auction, but the price was bid up above $35 by the end of the auction. Try bidding the first time, there are usually more than 1 lot posted for sale.

The other option I considered were tealights from IKEA (burn time ~4 hours) - $2.99/100 pk (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50097995) and tea light holders $1.29/pk of 4 (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/36418000), but I didn't like the metal cup that the tea lights candles are poured in. Might work if you were using a dark colored glass candle holder. IKEA also has these great lanterns ($4.99 each) to hold tea lights: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10122987

I love votive candles, but some places don't allow open flames, so I was thinking the flameless candles...
