nursing is going well. DS is 8 week's old, it's me that's the problem , Once in a while I get something that look's like a large blister on my nipple, dreading the next feeding, in the middle of the night it killed, my whole boob had pain, I took Motrin, I'm sure it's from to much sucking, anyone else have this

I got those with DD. They were big and filled with clear fluid. My LC said that it was okay to lance them with a sterilized needle, and that seemed to provide some comfort. Warm compresses can help, too. They tended to coincide with bouts of mastitis for me, so I think they were connected in my case, but I surely don't know if that is always the case.

It wasn't to bad the next feeding. I hope it will be ok, I'm afriad to try the needle, it's already painful, the area I mean, I'll try warm compresses first.

thanks

It sounds like a bleb or a milk blister. They are often associated with plugged ducts, which is probably the pain you experienced.

I got one off and on for several weeks with Amy. I finally correlated it with the Glamourmom tanks I was wearing. I stopped wearing them and they went away.

Evaluate your bras and the carriers you are using. If they are putting pressure on a particular area, that may be causing plugged ducts.

Lecithin, lecithin, lecithin! I've had to take it throughout nursing. Even though my son's almost two now, I still get those blisters if I stop taking the lecithin...

MILK BLEB --- ACK! I had one with DD#2 for months. It hurt, but not as bad as mastitis (had that 5 x). First off, if your whole boob hurts, I'd go and get checked for mastitis. If you have a plugged duct or milk bleb alone, the pain is more isolated to the duct and nipple area. With mastits, your whole boob and really, your whole body hurts.

The needle technique doesn't hurt, actually, if you do it properly. The manual expressing afterwards DOES. Ack....

I went to 2 LCs, the last one sent me to a BFg specialist dr. She did the needle thing with manual expression (waaaaay harder than I could do on myself) at 2 different office visits. It took about a month to go away after that.

Oh, and that dr had me use a special cream. IIRC, it was bactroban, an antifungal (miconazole?) and hydrocortizone.

You can PM if you want more info.

ETA: AND, yes, LECITHIN. I get mine at Costco. Its also called Soy(a) Lecithin. I take 3 capsules (they are huge) 2-3 x a day during mastitis or plugged duct. I take 2 per day at night for maintenance. There is science to back up the use of lecithin while nursing, according to the LCs and dr I saw.

I just bought the lecithin at the local drug store & Epsom salt to do a saline soak, I read it from the link a PP sent from Kellymom website, I'm hoping they both work, I do think it's a milk blister.

Now on the other boob I have a blister , not a milk one though .

The Kellymom link has a link for lecithin, near the bottom. I took 3 pills a day until it cleared up, then went down to 1 pill a day. I tried completely stopping, but every time I did that, the milk blebs came back. You might have more luck, though!

I think I ordered mine from Amazon. I ordered a TON! :)
