Jayden is VERY popular and Ashton reminds me of Ashton Kucher.

Ditto though as more time passes and I meet more Ashtons my mind doesn't immediately go to Ashton Kutcher anymore. Also, do you like nicknames? If so, what would you use for this?

Agree too with the other pp who said Jayden is really popular for girls now. And Jayden David is too rhyming.

I abstained but if I had to pick I would go with Joel.

Another vote for Joel for the same reasons pp's have listed.

Does anyone think the name Joel would be picked on? I know its easy to rhym with, which is what Im worried about.

I don't see why Joel would be picked on more than any other name. Kids can find a way to be cruel no matter what if they want to. Its a nice, solid, classic name, and that's why it got my vote. ;)

No, I wouldn't worry about teasing w/ that name. It's a solid name.

ashton clay - two 'dirt, earth, soil' type names. i like both, but not together.

i'd vote for david allen, but it's my cousin's name & that's why! :)

I would say Ashton would very easily get turned in to Ashley. Joel I cant think of any nick name/picks.

I voted Joel just b/c I guy I grew up with is named Joel & he is very smart, good looking & now an awesome father of 4 kids.

The other names are OK, but Joel is more "classic" and sounds good as a child's name and an adult name.

Choosing a name is hard because when you tell people they always have something to say. My husband & I are trying to keep our name a secret- 4 weeks to go & so far so good. Just go with what sounds & feels right. Good Luck!

I can think of a fair number of questionable nickname variations on Jayden and Ashton, but not so many on Joel actually!

Jayden sounds girlish to me, but then I know a couple girls with that name. I like Ashton, but Joel would be my first pick.

Thanks everyone, I guess I'm probably to worried about it. I just think a name is something you have forever and as a parent your child can hate you if you pick a bad one. I always hated my name b/c in every class there were like 50! Thanks! :D
