I need to host a bridal shower in Pittsburgh in July. I have never even been to Pittsburgh so I haven't the faintest idea where I should hold it. I am looking for a tea room, quaint restaurant, something! It will only be about 20 people or so. Any ideas, please?

When you say Pittsburgh - do you mean the actual city - or one of the surrounding areas to the N, S, E or W?

I can make some suggestions for about 30 minutes North of Pittsburgh if that's where you are looking.

Haha honestly, I have no clue. My friend (the bride) lives in the 15224 zip code. (Told you I am cluelss about the area!) Since nearly everyone is from out of town, I am sure she would not mind if it was not right by her place. Thanks!

Are people flying in? If so then we could suggest some places more by the airport. If their driving do you have a general idea of where their driving from?

yea - 15224 sounds kind of like downtown'ish to me - Bloomfield area I believe. There are some decent little places in that area - but I'm not real familiar with them. The last few times we were in that area we ate at a little Italian place called Alexander's - and at Church Brew Works - neither of which are great bridal shower places. Unless - the bride loves beer - then www.churchbrew.com (http://www.churchbrew.com) would rock! :)

If a 30 minute or so drive North of Pittsburgh is acceptable - Stone Mansion (Wexford), The Pines Tavern (Gibsonia) or Cliffords (Evans City) are all nice places.

This might help a bit. They have a dining guide.

Maybe you could try to email the food editor at the paper. Not sure if he/she will respond.

I have friendsand family there and have attended showers at the Sunnyledge and the Omni William Penn. Both lovely and would be suitable, imo.

We had our rehearsal dinner at the Hyeholde Restuarant. It was wonderful. They list a tea menu on their website that might be fun for a bridal shower.

It is in Moon Township, close to the airport and not too far from downtown.

The hyeholde is a great place. Also, the Embassy Suites and Airport Marriott both in Moon Twp.

a friend came back with this...

For something like that....maybe the Coco Cafe on Butler in Lawrenceville. Not sure if you could rent the entire place out but I'm sure they could accommodate 20 people. http://tastyburgher.com/2006/04/03/coca-cafe/

Also I think the Waldorf School (in the old Victoria Hall) still rents out rooms on the weekend. Not sure how the food thing goes...probably could just buy some stuff from a caterer a bring it along. but it's very "homey" and a great atmosphere. http://www.waldorfpittsburgh.org/

I have friends who live in that general area and put this out to them. As they respond I'll post :) Good Luck!

Piccolo Forno

Mezzanotte Café

Many votes for Mezzanotte, here’s an excerpt:

The Mezzanotte Cafe got a good review in the Post Gazette:

March, 2008

MEZZANOTTE CAFE

This quirky neighborhood cafe serves straightforward Italian-American food in a slightly peculiar dining room. Enjoy abundant appetizers and pastas for reasonable prices, with friendly and competent service. On weeknights the restaurant can be quiet, but don't let that keep you away; even when you're the only patrons in the restaurant, this comfort food has the power to soothe.
