ditto. i can't tell you how many people gave me a hard time for not turning dd FORWARD facing at one year. i was just waiting until she reached 20 lbs too. everyone (except my pediatrician) told me that the rule is 1 yr OR 20 lbs and no one believed me (or my ped) when i said that it is 1 yr AND 20 lbs. i didn't even try to convince them that rear facing for longer than that is safer. i know people who turned their child forward facing before one yr because the child reached the 20lb mark sooner. and these are people who are seemingly responsible parents, they take the time to research and educate themselves (well, for the most part).

but this information is just not easy to find. i gained most of my carseat knowledge here on these boards. so, thanks everyone!
