Confused -- LATCH for Frontier?

DS is 40 lbs -- we have a Toyota. I just took off the LATCH and used a belt (with BV). Am I missing something??

The BV is 48, if the car doesn't say anything. Toyota says to follow the seat manual (ie, they don't say anything). The Frontier says the upper LATCH limit if the car doesn't say anything is 40. It's lower than the other Britaxes that have been on the market so far (because a couple of car makers have 40 pound limits, they want to prevent confusion). If I had a Toyota and a Boulevard? I'd use LATCH all the way to 48 pounds, personally.

When the Frontier is used as a harnessed seat, you can only use LATCH to install up to the limits that Julie said in her post. However, once you switch to booster mode, you can install it with LATCH so that it does not move around. There is no weight limit on the LATCH use when it is a booster since the seatbelt is holding the child and the LATCH anchors are only holding the weight of the seat.

LATCH + child>40lbs + seatbelt = OK

How about this:

In harnessed mode: LATCH up to 40 lbs (child's weight), Seatbelt 40-80 lbs

In booster mode: LATCH at any weight (I think there is a 40 lb minimum to use the booster)

Thanks, duh, totally forgot the LATCH as a booster scenario...
And, because I love to have the last word, IF your car allows LATCH to a higher weight (for instance, most are 48, Subaru is 60), then it's safe to use it harnessed and installed with LATCH up to that limit.
