Hi everyone,

We have a Kia Sedona/Carnival and have been interested in the frontier for a while now, largely because I was really excited about having him Latched and harnessed. Having read some of the recent posts I found myself more confused and just had a a confusing conversation with KIA customer service in which they assured me they met federal safety standards but refused to specify what the upper limit is. Has anyone else looked into this for the KIA? His torso BTW is 15.75 inches.

oh, and a second question - what is this amazon discount code some people mentioned because all the frontiers I saw seemed about the same price...?

Thanks so much,

Naomi

Pretty sure the Frontier LATCH limit is 40 lbs unlike some of the other Britax seats which go to 48 if your car will allow it. The coupon was 10% off or something like that if you purchase TWO Britax seats.

The manual on the froniter says assume your car latch weight limit is 40 lbs unless your vehicle manual specifys otherwise. Some vehicles say 48 lbs.

Here is a couple of articles about latch limits:

http://www.car-safety.org/latch.html

Also here is a older table that shows different vehicle latch limits:

Thanks for the links,801Kelle. To answer the OP's second question, the code is BRITAX20 and can be used to get 20% off Britax seats on Amazon if you purchase TWO seats by May 31.

I am sorry this has taken me so long to get back to this (one sick cranky baby and needing to deal with too many frustrating handymen this week ...:-() currently typing one handed so please 'scuse the lack of caps.... phew, baby down for a minute.

okay, here's what happened. Kia when I spoke to them told me there is no official LATCH limit but they meet federal standards whatever those might be. DH suggests, and I think he may be right, that we could try latching and seatbelting at the same time. Anyway, either way we decided to go for the frontier, especially after I went into a B&M store where the retailer tried to convince me that children over 40 LBS must OF COURSE be switched to a booster and what crazy kind of parent was I to be trying to keep him harnessed.....aaaaaah! did I mention I have had a nutty annoying weeK?

Anyway, I ordered from babyage for $279 shipped it to chicago and hopefully it will be here soon, it shipped almost immediately. All the kids are excited to be moving up, (or my 10 month old will be - she currently arches and complains when put in her Keyfit although there is still room). Thanks for all the tips and inspiration :-)
