Turning FF...I'm search challenged

Was there some rule of thumb about how far the child's ears had to be from the top of the seatback in a convertible seat, that meant it was time to turn FF?

The top of the head has to be no closer than one inch to the top of the seatback RF. Or the weight limit has to be reached...which ever comes first means it's time to FF (the tops of the ears reaching the top of the seatback is like your bright red warning light that the seat is totally outgrown FF)
