This little guy should be arriving in the middle of October. I was wondering if anything new would be out or if I should just start looking at what is available. We well have a new honda minivan and my babies are on the big side. DH said to get what I want so that has narrowed it to the Keyfit30 and Safeseat.

Hi, Jeana! I was going to suggest your two top picks. Great minds and all... Beyond that, I have no idea. :ROTFLMAO:

Either one would be great. You couldn't go wrong with either one.

Absolutely adore them both! Snugride will have a lockoff on the base (and maybe other improvements? Not sure how they could really make it better...oh, top slots are already lowered on the SR and SS1 to 6 inches to fit tiny babies better, but the chest clip and buckle look insanely huge on newborns in those seats already...maybe if they invent a smaller chest clip things'll be better...). I loved my Key Fit with the passion of...well...as much passion as you can feel for an inanimate object... :love-retry:

I read the keyfit is 30in30lbs and the safe seat is 32in and 30lbs. Are those 2 inches that important? Nathan was 9lb8oz and 21.5 in long.

I really think I like this one --http://www.albeebaby.com/chke30incars1.html

That extra time lasted us about an extra 8 months
Here's Leah at almost 1 http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/LeahInCarseats/photo#5015871597836312962 just outgrowing the KF
and 19 months almost outgrowing the SS1 http://picasaweb.google.com/joolstag/LeahInCarseats/photo#5101172270539604018

Just depends on how convenient you find your infant seat, really (and Leah was a late walker, so those extra winter and early spring months being able to tote her around worked for us...but oh...the Key Fit... <swoon>)

I really like the keyfit in red but my boys keep getting bigger so now I am wondering if I should go with the safe seat just for longevity.

LOL this is so sad but Im going to wait to get the van and match the interior color to the carseat

Do they make the safeseat in a red fabric?

It's a safeseat, but fancy shmancy

I really like this - it is a safeseat? Is it available now? Either online or in a store? Right now I'm trying to decide between the keyfit and the safeseat and am leaning towards the keyfit just because of the seat color options - but I like the possibility of being able to use the safeseat longer -- if I could order this seat - in a reasonable fabric I'd do it in a flash (well - depending on the price - and availability).

I'm not sure when it'll be available... but yes, it's just a Safeseat in fancier clothing.. :)

If I already have the SafeSeat can I just buy a new cover/fabric for it somewhere? Or do I have to buy a new seat to get a fancy new cover?
