To me it is all about the beat -- not so much about the words. I am looking for some new music to add to the mix. All genres.

What are the top 3 songs you like to hear to really get you moving during a tough part of your workout?

Some of my favorites right now:

Avril Lavigne - Girlfriend
Good Charlotte - Anthem
ACDC - You Shook Me All Night Long

Thanks for playing!

I got a few for running (pre-preg) using a list Nike puts up for the top "Power Songs" for it's Nike+.

Black Eyed Peas "Pump It Up" has an awesome beat to it
their "Don't Phunk with My Heart" and "My Humps" are good, too
Sean Paul "Temperature" has a good driving beat
OK Go "Here it goes again" (the treadmill song)
Justin Timberlake "SexyBack"

There was some Eminem, too, at the time I looked, but I decided not to go there...

There are probably newer songs listed there (Nike+) now, but these are still good ones!

I seem to start with stuff from Madonna. I dug out some CDs and found my Pet Shop Boys and Pure 80's CD that rock!

I run with my iPod shuffle and it is mainly dance (older - 80's) music and upbeat rock.

My top 3:

Radar Love - Golden Earring
On My Way - Styx
Workin' Again - Michael Stanley Band (probably never heard of this unless you are from Cleveland)

Others:
Groove is in the Heart - Deee-lite
All Star - Smash Mouth (thanks Shrek)
Don't Tear Me Up - Mick Jagger
Turn the Beat Around - Vickie Sue Robinson
Just added Little Suzie by Styx
I also have a couple from the "Cool Runnings" soundtrack

OK, so I"m old and I haven't listened to much new music. What can I say, I've got little kids and I'm an 80's girl. :bouncy: Whatever works, right?

Some of my favorites from my "work it out" mix:

Hazy Shade of Winter - the Bangles
Devil Inside - INXS
Rhythm Nation - Janet Jackson
Kick Start My Heart - Motley Crue
Let's Go Crazy - Prince
Walk of Life - Dire Straits
Road to Nowhere - Talking Heads
Debaser - the Pixies
Transmission - Joy Division
Let's Go - Wang Chung
Dress You Up - Madonna
Desire - U2
Three Is the Magic Number - De La Soul

It's fun to see some more of my work-out playlist songs pop up on other people's playlists.... like Beyonce's Crazy in Love and Modest Mouse (of all bands!) Float On or Dashboard... I guess I'm talking to you, rprav8r!

Oh man... I can't wait to be able to run again!

BEA! We were talking about De La Soul today- how when ever we hear the School House Rock version we always bust out into the De la Soul version.

I feel less old now.

And- Good choices with the Joy Division and U2!

This is specific to ab work...
Led Zep's "When the Levee Breaks".
Just doing crunches with different leg positions for the duration of the song should sufficiently send you to the loony bin or the hospital.

Cheryl-
I was like "hey, that is my workout playlist!" than I remembered that I got most of them from you.:)

I also like to run to Fergie, Dancehall Crashers (Keep on Running) and the Dixie Chicks. There is more but I haven't looked at my playlist since I stopped running at 12 weeks so I can't remember them off the top of my head.

Not usually a fan, but Lose Yourself by Eminem gets me pumped on the treadmill. :jammin: I got that recommendation here the last time this thread was up. It's my go to song when I've got to push through, kwim?

These are great suggestions and I appreciate the links too!

I had seen some of the previous threads but I was looking for "power" songs so thank you for letting me re-hash the topic!
