is there a way to anchor down the "head" end of the car seat when it's rear facing?

the "foot" end is secure, but the "head" end just lifts up off the seat if we push it up. is this normal?

this car seat is four years old. thanks for any help!

Is the base lifting from the vehicle seat or is the bucket/child seat lifting off the base?? If its lifting off the base, that's not normal. If the whole thing (base + seat) is lifting off the vehicle seat, that's kinda normal. There is movement at the head end , they are designed that way.

it's the whole thing - base and seat.

so it sounds like i don't need to worry about it lifting up...

i wonder what the benefit is of designing it that way?

No benefit, just no danger to it. Seats have to install with just a lapbelt to pass crash testing in this country, so just having it tight at the belt path (and of course the proper recline) is all we have to shoot for, really. (It's incredibly unnerving once you are used to a solid convertible seat install, though!)
