Does anyone have them? Don’t recall where I read but I think they’re a better plastic. I have a ton of take and toss from First Years and I should probably throw them out. Wanted to hear you thoughts on them. I got 6 of them for $2

If you are going to use plastics, polypropylene is currently thought to be one of the safer plastics (It probably has a number five on the bottom of the cup? )

The description on Ikea's site specifies polypropylene.

According to the IKEA link you posted, they are made of polypropylene which is #5. I believe the TAke and Toss stuff is all #5 as well. According to the following article 1,2,4,5 plastics are all safer for food and beverages.

just opened/cleaned the ikea cups and they'rea number 4. wonder what that means other than it's on the 'safe' list.

not to thrilled w/the fact that they're made in china. oh!

I have these - they are #5 and are made in Malaysia.

I don't think there is too big of a concern b/c they're made of polyprophelene (no. 5 plastic) and there's no bisphenol-A if that's what your concern is.

That's funny because I just checked ours (purchased years ago) and they're #5 and made in Malaysia, BUT we went to an Ikea a couple of weeks ago and I was shocked at how many items in the marketplace section were made in China. More items I checked were MIC than anywhere else.

I have the Ikea cups, plates and bowls, all purchased about 2 years ago at Ikea Canada. They are marked #5 and made in Malaysia.

I have two sets - one purchased a year or so ago and one purchased a couple months ago. The older one is made in Malaysia, the newer one in China. Neither one has a plastic # on them.
