smoke in house questions

while i was taking a nap today my mom burnt sugar water. for some reason she fell asleep (that is for the bitching post). she didn't turn the stove off. :32: when i awoke there was lots of smoke in the house. i got the kids up and took them outside.

my questions are how long for the smell? any simple things to do to get the smells gone? the smoke cleared fast as soon as i got fans going. of course my firefighter husband is out of cell area and no phones. :32: anything else you can think of please let me know.. i am so tired and exausted i can't think straight..

I just got the Queen of Clean's book. One of her tips is to remove odor of burned foods, boil some lemon slices or 1 tablespoon of lemon juice in a saucepan for a few minutes.

I don't know if this will help or not.
