Electric Kettle

After yet another stove top kettle that doesn't whistle..aggh...I'm going to get an electric kettle as they have a safety off switch so no more boiling kettle dry. I used them all the time in Australia and they were plastic. I suppose that's not the best material for it to be made from. Any one know if it's OK, or is it best to stick to stainless steel...
