From bassinet to...?

DS is just about to hit the weight limit of our bassinet, where he's spent his nights in our room. I'm looking for advice on the next placement...should he go to his crib in the nursery just across the hall or should we move either the playard or crib into our room? I know the SIDS foundation recommends in parents' room for 6 mos. ???

I'm looking for advice based on safety and good sleep habits. I'm not too worried about convenience.

We used a mini crib on castors - has worked well in our room.

We went with a what works for us approach, and what worked for us was bassinet in another room, then crib in the child's own room.

For safety, we didn't use a crib bumper or any soft bedding.

If in your room is working for you, then a mini crib in your room sounds like a great idea.

We started with bedroom doors open but later we transitioned to closed bedroom doors, not out of safety but out of preventing sleep disruption for everyone.
