I friggin hate surgery. Although I haven't had my ct-scan yet, I may have a ventral hernia. I don't know anything more about them other than I'd need surgery to repair it. I've had 3 c-sections in the past 5 years so I'm really tired of surgery.

any stories?

I had 3 hernias repaired when I was little. I had one directly
under my belly button and my intestines were coming through
the hernia. Plus, I had 2 others down near my pubic bone,
one on either side.

I had surgery to repair all three.

Does that count? :)

I had one above my belly button after I got my gall bladder removed. My abs hurt worse than having my gb out, but I didn't feel as icky internally as I did w/the gb surgery.

ventral hernias aren't much of a big deal these days...quite possibly can be done as an out-pt, depending on your dr and the severity/degree of the hernia- meaning if it's pretty big, and they have to "put a lot back in place", it may req 1-2 nights in the hospital.
generally, you should be back on your feet in a few days, with only ice and tylenol/motrin for pain control(after the initial 1-2 days of vicodin, if it's even needed.)
if you would like anymore info, leave a meesage for me, and i'll tell you what i can.(i've been a nurse for 13+yrs- everything from er to icu)
good luck!!!
