I stocked up on PBK Taylor utensils the last time someone posted that they were on sale and find that they are a perfect size and weight for toddlers (I've set the knives aside & haven't used those). They've lasted only so-so; the trim between the actual head of the spoon/fork and the handle is plastic meant to look like metal and it has started to fall off on some of our spoons. For the price I paid, though, I'm not that bothered by it. Anyway, because of this, I was looking to stock up again, and lo and behold, another "secret" sale! Using the "89" trick, a set of four place settings is $12.99 with free shipping. Regular price is $22.

The handles are gingham, and there's a choice of red, blue, green or pink. I didn't check to see if the matching plates, tumblers, etc. are also on sale if you use "89," but they're definitely FS too.

Thanks! I stocked up last time, thinking I would give some as gifts, but I had the same issue with the tops falling off so I will just keep them to replenish my stock :)

I got two aqua sets of these about hmmm, two yrs ago? They have held up great and I have not had any issues with things falling off or peeling off. I don't know what I will do with the other set I got... maybe give them as a baby gift? They are PERFECT for toddlers and preschoolers. I read that if you stick them in the DW to make sure you put them in there with the silverware part facing down on the handle part facing up, b/c the handles can crack if they get too hot.

I have given up on these. I have bought so many sets and they have all broken and ended up in the garbage. Seriously like 8 or 9 sets in total- at the request of my son who loved them and every single piece cracked or otherwise fell apart.

A word of advice- save your money.

I too have had a set break - I asked at the store and they said to bring them back and they'd replace them. DD likes these better than the adult ones and the kids themed ones.

I also stocked up on these during the last sale a while ago. We are still on our first sets. I put them in the dishwasher with the silver part down/ handle up, like a pp said, and I've had no problems with them. My kids love them. And my older dd loves to use the knives for spreading. It makes her feel so grown up. That's good to know that the store will exchange them if they do break. I may buy a few more sets for gifts.

Lol, I use the knives for a spreader too. My kids don't really use the knives since we usually cut everything up for them. They make really good spreaders!

This silverware is complete junk. Save your money. I saw the same exact stuff in the dollar store. It was identical to the PBK stuff. 1/2 of my PBK silverware has snapped apart.

I understand it is $4.99 for a set of 4? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks! I picked up a set of utensils and a set of taylor bowls. If you use the "89" trick on the bowls they drop down to $9.99 for a set of four.

Thanks for the postings! (I think. :)) We have a set of utensils and they are holding up fine, so I got some more so I can pitch the cheapo Target $1bin ones. We also have the Taylor divided plates, so some bowls will be perfect!

Also got a sheet set for DD2's big girl bed for $25.

I know the reviews are hit or miss, but I keep having to throw away the Target utensils anyway, so I thought I'd give these a try. I also picked up these drink/straw cups - using the 89 code it's $14.99 for a set of 4...

Thanks OP-originally I bypassed this thread, not realizing it was for a set of 4!!! But, I had almost $14 left on a gift card from the holidays, so with FS, I paid $.26!!! I am sure it will beat the gerber set my DD uses for every meal (I hand wash in between!).

Thanks!

I ordered a set and decided it was time to start using real silverware vs the plastic stuff we have been using =)

I saw these mugs at Target on clearance for I think $1.99. I didn't purchase any though as I am trying to stay away from plastic.

We needed silverware. I didn't want to go to the store OR have to look at characters, so thanks for posting!

I had the same problem with the handles breaking off, but only for the forks not the spoons for some odd reason. It happend on all eight of our forks. I took them back to the store and they replaced them no problem.

Same with our forks, not spoons, but it was because the fork would get "bent" in certain foods and the top would snap off!
