Building with cushions toy? 1 year significant gift

Grandma is asking for recommendations for a significant gift for our baby's first birthday. (She was suggesting a car seat but we are getting one for him already)

I'm fascinated by those plastic playhouses/climbing toys, etc. But--I'm looking to see if there is anything in the same mode available in firm-cushions.

MAybe multiple pieces that could be put together in multiple ways? Ifthe toy is not outside, I thought maybe that would get more use.

Although we will be driving from arizona to Texas after receiving it and I'm still not sure how we'll get it there.

Anyways, any ideas?
