I have a good friend who is prego with baby number 4. All her kids are exactly 22 mos apart. The 3rd is 13 mo old right now, born on the same days as my DD.

We were talking and she said the one thing she needs is new diaper covers. She uses CD after all the gifts of disposables have been use up. She really needs diaper covers NOW for her 13 m.o. I was thinking that instead of waiting to get her a baby gift when she has #4, maybe I would just give her some new CD cloth diaper covers now because she would get more use out of them.

I know she uses the disposables when they are first born because everyone gives them to you and it helps with the haze of having a new baby not to have to wash diapers too. So I know I want to get her a big size, not new born. I also know that she uses tri-folds and has plenty of them. I know she has a few All In Ones and loves them, but it seems more worth the money to get covers since that is what she says she needs. Most of her covers now are leaky.

Can a CD mom recommend a large size cover that will work with tri-folds that is good enough quality to get through the current baby and the one on the way? Her 13 mo is about 23 or 24 lbs. I need a size recommendation (maybe something adjustable that will last through PT is such a thing exists. I do not want the wool covers that look like shorts. I need the waterproof covers that go on like a regular diaper.

And finally, if anyone knows of one, is there a good Etsy diaper seller? My friend loves Etsy and supporting the moms there, so I know it would make her happy if I got them from there, but this is just icing on the cake. Really, I just need a couple good cover recommendations.

TIA!

We really liked Bummis with DS. Cute patterns, and easy to use (velcro).

Pro-raps are a basic cover. They work, but they aren't pretty.

We're going to try Thirsties with the twins. I've heard good things about them.

All of these are PUL, which is fabric with a plastic applied to the inside to keep leaks in. It's not rigid. Some people prefer fleece or wool, but DS was a wetter, so we preferred PUL to hold things in. (I'm also a bit sensitive to wool, and so was concerned about trying it on DS.)

I haven't heard of any on Etsy... try looking at the brands above to get an idea of what you're looking for. (A quick search there showed me a lot that I wouldn't like -- the side openings are important for being able to get into the dipe easily!)

If you want to support working at home moms, you can also try Diaper Hyena: <http://www.thediaperhyena.com/directory/index.php>. (I don't know current sellers to recommend.)

As for sizes, most sized (as opposed to one-size) covers will be sized by weight...

I love my bummis DD is 19 lbs and 15 months old and wears a medium, which is rather large still. There are a lot of mammas who own stores and sell them online, do a search for Bummies and you will find a lot of sites to support.

There are a few one size diaper covers. I don't hear much about them, but they might work for your friend.

Here's one called Cuddlewrap Single Sized Cover; it's made out of fleece, not the waterproof PUL material that you were expecting, but fleece does work and is easy to wash. Cuddlebuns is a well-knwon brand of diaper and the maker, Posh Bunkins, did a lovely job on the one Cuddlebuns I own. And it's even an etsy seller! You could always email her to modify the cover to your liking.

I couldn't find any other CuddleWraps available, but you could individually contact these makers:

There is also Wonder Wrap one-size diaper cover.

For mass produced covers, Thirsties, Motherease, and Bummis are all good and come in prints and/or colors. For handmade covers, I like Angel Dry diapers. I'm blanking on any others for some reason!

I have a good friend who owns an online baby boutique and c/d business. She is super picky about what she carries. I had her give me a tutorial earlier today in prep for my dd's arrival.

For covers - She only sells covers by Thirsties - says they have the best combination for quality and price. She also swears by the gusset and leg openings. She explained to me the reason covers are sized rather than O/S is because the pre-folds are sized. Sure, you can get stuffin's that aren't pre-folds, but that puts you back to folding and pinning etc. It is a matter of keeping things simple.

I've recently bought covers from www.thanksmama.com and I think www.lilbunz.com. I've also used www.naturalbabies.com frequently. Between the two kids, I'm up to 4 years of CDing, now.

I like Bummi's Super Whisper wraps, Thirsties, SwaddleBees, and Bummi's Super Brites the best. They all run around $11-$13 per cover, generally. A medium Bummi's or Thirsties would fit your friend's kid now, I think. A large would be plenty roomy, but fit forever.

Well, I ordered 2 from her to be shipped directly to my friend. Thanks for the rec. I checked out other sellers on etsy, but hers were the most reasonably priced. Thank you!

I love http://www.wigglewormbottoms.com/store/WsAncillary.asp?ID=6 and she has great prices but she is not on ETSY and she is not stocked all the time. She just did a huge opening for customs so she will probably not be open for another month or so.
