I know that there are quite a few glass baby bottles available now, but what about water bottles for adults? We are moving to Houston at the end of the month and I will need to start drinking more water. I really hate drinking from metal (I hate how it feels against my lips - I am weird, LOL). Has anyone found a good alternative? I think I might just have to buy a Snapple ir the like and re-use the glass, but I with the lid would be more solid. My ideal water bottle would be like a tall thin Evenflo glass baby bottle with a good lid, but I am not too picky.

I'm pretty sure there is a Scandinavian bottled water brand called Voss that comes in glass bottles. I know that you can also get it in plastic bottles, but I think I remember being stunned one time that the bottle I picked up was glass. If you can find it, you can easily reuse that bottle- it's in the shape of a true cylinder. That probably doesn't help much since I don't know were you could find that (I saw it in a hotel room in chicago). If I were you, I'd go for a Sigg. hth

My inlaws (who keep everything) have several flask-like glass bottles that are meant for camping and holding drinking water, not repurposed bottles (although, I agree, that's a good idea too.) I don't know for the life of me what brand they are, or if you could buy them at a sporting goods store anymore (they probably stopped making them in the 60's), but I would suggest that you could look at antiques and "junk" stores to see if you can find anything. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if some enterprising sporting goods company brought out some glass bottles soon. Right now I'm using the new Camelback bottles (which are plastic, so maybe not what you want) and I have a Sigg and some KKs. None are quite "the thing", but I'm making do. HTH.

So you wouldn't opposed to metal as long as the mouth part is not metal? If so, you could get the active top or whatever it's called for the Sigg bottles. But I have a suggestion that I like better. It annoys me that the Sigg bottles aren't insulated (you can buy a sleeve, but then that covers up the cute design (petty I know). So I told my mom that what I wanted was a bottle like dd's funtainer--metal and insulated, so she went on a mad hunt for mother's day :love5: and found me two great options. They're both by thermos. One is exactly like the funtainer only larger (she got that one on ebay http://tinyurl.com/55qr4f) and the other is this one http://www.thermos.com/Product_detail.aspx?CatCode=BEVG&SubcategoryID=8&ProductID=282 which is slightly taller. I love them both. I live in the Phoenix area, and they keep my water cold for a long time. The only complaint I have is that the outside does get warm to the touch if it's in direct sunlight, so if that's the concern, you might want something more like the second one which has the rubber grip on it. Also, I don't know which bottle it is (I don't find thermos's site to be very helpful), but the one pictured here looks good too http://www.thermos.com/SubCategoriesCatalog.aspx?CatCode=BEVG&SubMenuID=0

HTH some and good luck finding something and also with the move. We love Houston (only visited, never lived there); hope you guys do too!

what about something like this:

http://www.containerandpackaging.com/item.asp?item=G045

the lids are over to the right hand side of the page

if the shape or size isn't right, i found it here:
