Thanks, all, for thinking about us. Now the oncologist is acting like this is no big deal, after treating this as a very urgent, concerning situation. It turns out that DH has what he called "resolving pneumonia" so he's on an inhaler, antibiotics, and such. He has to go back in a couple of weeks for a repeat chest x-ray, so hopefully that one will be clear.

I guess that the lymph nodes were enlarged due to the pneumonia. And I don't really understand why the oncologist got all excited over the chest x-ray originally - couldn't they diagnose the pneumonia from that vs. putting us through a week or so of panic? I wish that I had better answers, but I don't.

Anyways, thanks again for thinking of us!! It meant a lot to have so many people rooting for DH!

I'm glad to hear it will hopefully just be pneumonia! Hopefully, he'll get the all clear very soon!

I just wanted to share that we went through something similiar with my dad a few years ago. He got very sick, very suddenly and ended up in the urgent care. They admitted him and told us he had a large mass in his lung, which was either pneumonia or cancer. Since he was a former, long-time smoker with COPD, everyone thought it was aggressive cancer (x-ray from 4 months previous was clear). They gave him very strong antibiotics and brought in the oncologists as well. After a biopsy, we found out it was indeed pneumonia. I had always thought pneumonia presented as fluid in the lungs (and was easily diagnosed from an x-ray), but found out differently!

Hang in there and remember to take care of yourself!

Crossing my fingers that it really is nothing. I can only imagine the stress you guys have been under, but hopefully it was 100% false alarm.

Well, I'm glad it's not cancer, but wow, that is really weird that they thought it was! Course, I'm not in the med profession so I don't know how things go. Hope your Dh recovers from the pneumonia soon!

I'm glad it turned out to not be so serious. But I'm sorry for the mental.emotional stress you went through until the test results were back. Here's hoping the pneumonia is cleared up soon.
