Very timely article - loving anything that justifies the purchase more more cookware :). We were considering polypropelyne for our bubble, but are worried about environmental impact, so are now thinking bamboo --- what are your thoughts ;)

DH is very handy, so I'm sure he could manage a very nice yurt out of sustainable materials. Although, considering our climate, maybe an igloo is in order :p Check these out: http://www.yurtco.com/whats-a-yurt/

Love it!!!

I have some yurt catalogs in my possession. DH likes to leave them out when my ILs are visiting, just to freak them out :ROTFLMAO:

You guys really need to start trying to be a little more crunchy. My family lives in a igloo that I've made from EBM. Step it up.

In all seriousness though, we need to start looking at mattresses soon. Is Ikea a good place for them? I don't have a clue as to what I'm supposed to be looking for/avoiding.

Shoot, that's a fabulous idea. Now, where did I put the pump? Wait, it's 110 degrees here, maybe that won't work.

You are too funny!!!

Ikea is all PBDE free. They have a mattress there that is 85% natural latex now and 15% synthetic. We got that for DD's room (she doesn't sleep there yet, but we got it in the meantime). DH and I (and DD) sleep on a Savvy Rest natural latex mattress. If you are interested in other mattress brands, let me know and I"ll see if I can dig them up.

Oh good, thanks. We need to buy one for Jason. He still co-sleeps (hey, it's cold in the igloo! ;) ), but I figure if he doesn't have the bed, he can't really choose when to start sleeping in it. Plus it would just be nice to have for company.

Are the latex ones pretty comfy? Soft? Firm? How long do they typically last? Are there any other nasties I need to watch out for?
