I have a simple (and cheap) lampshade from Target... it's white fabric and has some sort of plasticy coating on the inside. I wonder if I can paint it with black chalkboard paint... Any thoughts? If it's okay-- I have a can (from my kitchen wall) and spray paint (from other accessories in DD's room) --which do you think is better??

I was going to suggest you use fabric-friendly paint if you were going to try it. I'd probably try either of the ones you have. If it doesn't work, you can get another shade pretty inexpensively.

I've painted lampshades with just about everything under the sun, but it's true that some paints fall off and some paints stink/discolor/don't perform well with the heat from a bulb.

I'd say try it and see how it works.
