So after 3 long weeks of a nightly battle with one of my dogs, I finally gave in and let him sleep in our bed. It was the best sleep I've had in forever!
I had been trying to get him to sleep in his crate but he would cry all. night. long.
So I finally gave up and will just deal with the issues that come with him sleeping in our bed.
(I thought the blanket over the crate thing showed some improvement but then it just got worse over the next few nights.)

For some reason I thought CIO with a dog would be more like with a baby- only lasting 3 nights. Well I haven't actually tried it with a baby yet but from what I've read it takes less than a week.
My dog was not backing down!

I used to use the DAP (Dog Appeasement Pheromone) plug-ins right next to the crate to crate train foster puppies. It helped calm them down a lot. You can buy it at Petsmart or Petco.

But yeah, two of our dogs have won that battle... the third one just prefers her bed over getting kicked awake.
