Clothes for Fall (Long)

In my desperate attempt to find summer clothes for an upcoming vacation, I've been at the mall a lot the last week. I rarely shop for clothes and realised that I shop at the wrong time. I shop in summer for summer and many stores have Fall clothes. I'll wait until it gets cold for Fall clothes, but by then they'll only have summer gear. So, in my attempt to get a bit dressier, I want to get a few key pieces for Fall now.

This is what I have:
2 pairs of great jeans and I'll get another pair at the Lucky sale in Dec/Jan.
I have several sweaters that will work well, a few are cashmere in solid colours.
I have 2 pairs of dressier trousers for work days (returning 2 days a week in Sept.), one is navy pin stripe, the other is black.
DH convinced me to buy this Anthropologie dress, saying that I could also wear it over black pants, which is something my stylish sister does a lot.

I don't really have any long sleeved shirt or casual t-shirts.

I'm also trying to get more colour into my wardrobe. I'm not great at coordinating outfits and I tend to stick with neutrals - black, brown, blue, beige - but then I find my clothes to be boring. I like a lot of Anthropologie clothes or Urban Outiftters. I tend to stick with plain pants from Ann Taylor Loft or BR and then a top that's a little different. For skirts, I can go plain or patterned.

This is my wish list, I think.
I've always wanted a pair of low-heeled boots, but to the knee or calf?

I'm thinking a bright coloured jacket. I liked a few at J Crew. I already have a brown corduroy jacket in a blazer style and a pale blue corduroy jacket that has ruffles.

I need to get some more work trousers - maybe a brown or camel coloured pant.

I need some Fall/Winter skirts.

I need some long sleeved shirts and t-shirts.

I'm really really bad with accessories. DH buys me some great jewellery, but I rarely wear anything. When I do, I feel more put together.

So....what would you suggest I buy. I can spend some money, DH encourages me to, but I've never been good with clothes, so I don't.
