I bought a Baby Bjorn Bouncer which starts at 8 lbs. I haven't used it yet b/c he's too small. Is it worth it to get a swing? I was thinking of the FP Papasan Swing or Graco Silhouette. I prefer those that don't require batteries as long as the quality is just as good. I heard the FP Power Plug one is not that great. Also, if it is worth it to get a swing, which kind?

TIA!

I can't stop saying good things about our Fisher-PriceĀ® Starlight Papasanā„¢ Cradle Swing ... PLUGS in, swing side-to-side or front-to-back, etc. The Happiest Baby on the Block guy says you can use it at 2 wks, and we did! And it's still getting daily use.

I'd say a swing is totally worth it. Our local consignment shop actually had a bunch of them. Right now we have three(!). One I bought off Craigslist, so I have two FP Aquarium swings and one GracoSweetpeace. I do like that the Sweetpeace plugs in although so far, DD seems to prefer the FP ones!

DS never didn't like the travel swing until he was a little bigger and we were afraid to get the full size one, but he actually preferred that one. We have one on every level as a place to put DD and/or a place to sleep. She keeps falling asleep in the swing!

If you end up with one that does not plug in, rechargeable batteries are the way to go. Although they don't eat batteries as quickly as I was afraid...get the rechargeables.
