DD is almost 10 months and has discovered how to climb the stairs. Most gates assume that there is a wood banister and and wall to mount on. Unfortunately our stair case has wrought iron spindles and hand rail. We can easily mount one side of the gate to the wall but havent a clue how to mount the other side.

Please please please help and let me know what you suggest!!!

We had a 3 piece gate for large areas at the bottom of our stairs, kind of like the one in this link. DH brought the ends around to the stairs and zip-tied them to our banisters. It took up more room than a regular gate, but it was the only way to block our stairs because we didn't have a wall at the bottom.

This site has some examples of gate mounting kits:

You can get a kit or replicate what you see with some parts from the hardware store.

KidCo has a kit that should work - www.kidco.com/main.taf?erube_fh=kidco&kidco.submit.gateDetails=1&kidco.modelNumber=K10&kidco.bc=gc
