Barley for Kids

Ok, I am supposed to make something from Mesopotamia. They grew a lot of barley. Probably for beer :), anyway anyone have any suggestions of what Mesopotamians might have eaten? Barley bread recipe? Vegan barley stew? Your guess is as good as mine.
