Where can I exchange a DVD set purchased at Amazon?

DH got a DVD box set (tv series) from Amazon but he already has that season- he just wants to exchange it for the next season. We don't want to hassle with returning it to Amazon. Are there any stores that might let us do an even exchange? Will they be able to tell that it wasn't bought there?

The box has been sitting in my living room for a few months now and I am in nesting mode and want it out of here! :)
