DH just called, and apparently its not going too well. I thought the parents stayed and helped. Apparently not -- they will be leaving after registration. DD#1 is not liking this idea (though she has done other PS programs, none in a language she doesn't speak or understand much of).

Sigh.

Maybe I should rethink the whole French Immersion for elementary school.

Any tips on how DH can make this work? This is "his" thing -- I don't speak German. Though, the FI for elementary school is "my" thing, so making language education work in general is a family priority.

TIA

My kid just started language immersion K but she is one of the few who already speak the language. I think if your child does not speak the language already, you just have to be prepared for the adjustment period to be longer. I have heard from many of the parents at DD's school that when their kids first started, it was very stressful and exhausting for them because they are trying to process everything in a new language. But it works. As DD's principal says, language immersion is a leap of faith.
