OT Computer issue

hi all-
I'm wondering if anyone uses Linux for their Operating System? I'm trying to read a document that our DS's teacher sent in Microsoft Publisher. Does anyone know how I can get my computer to recognize it? Anything I can do to convert it?

It seems the microsoft Publisher file is binary and the only thing that can read it is the Microsoft Publisher software?

Kate, AFAIK, you're right about Publisher. There may be some freeware floating around that will let you read it, but generally, only Publisher can read Publisher files. Basically, Publisher is intended for creation of printed documents. Ask the teacher to save the file as PDF next time around. I suspect you aren't the only parent who had trouble reading the file.

And you might want to tell her about Cute PDF writer. It allows you to save any file as a PDF and it is free.
