Anyone familiar with Poconos or Shenandoah?

Thinking of just a fall weekend getaway with a 1 & 3 year old in late Sept early October. Rather keep it less than 4 hour drive so i was considering Poconos or Shenandoah for maybe 2 nights? Any recommendations? Just looking for a little VERY light hiking, sightseeing, light shopping, Pumpkin picking? Also on a tight budget... can anyone recommend where to go or stay? Thanks!

Maybe Jim Thorpe in the Poconos - haven't been there myself but have heard good things about it.

One hotel night's stay includes admission to the water park. The kids will love it! Also you can use the water park on the day of check in and check out.
