DS is obsessed with tractors. Everyday he says he wants to be a tractor man for halloween which is really no surprise. The problem is that I don't know how to dress him so he clearly looks likes a "tractor man".
I'm thinking Carhart overalls and a flannel shirt. That's as far as I get. I was thinking maybe a hardhat but I don't really think farmers/tractor men wear them and I can't find a kids sized one anyway.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Have him find a picture of one in a book and go from there. That's how I always asked my students to create costumes for themselves. Finding a storybook character is no problem, and looking around in their closet for clothes that may work isn't hard either. Have him "create" the costume. It'll be fun and mean so much to him. I think a "tractor man" is so cute. Goodwill might have some things he could use for the costume.

Apparently, he's not the only one!

2 words: John Deere.
esp. a cap http://www.johndeeregifts.com/category/hats/kids.do
I checked but our Johnny Poppers (boots) are only made to 18 mos, so that won't help you. bummer.

ETA: PM me if you have a hard time finding JD stuff.

ETA (again): These JD boots are pretty expensive: http://www.endless.com/s/ref=topnav_sk__b/102-3806480-6532902/?type=&showDesigner=&node=241760011&keywords=john+deere&x=15&y=5 , but there is a rebate offer.

Or, now that you've seen them, maybe you can hunt down a bargain.

Don't know if real tractor people wear hardhats, but if you need to get one, they do sell kid-size ones at www.kidsurplus.com (http://www.kidsurplus.com). I bought one for DS for his Bob the Builder costume.

Yep, that's exactly what I thought, too. I know that there are John Deere stores out there and I imagine there is a cotume, too. Overalls, bandanna around the nech, hat.

Sounds like a cute costume!
