DH admitted to kicking my lightweight Bissell vacuum recently. That would probably explain why it broke in half after lunch yesterday. :hopmad:

Anyway, you've seen it before - toddler who litters the floor with every type of food imagineable, infant who crawls around and mouths everything, including a cigarette butt he found at the park last week (where's that puking emoticon???).

Well, LNT and BBB don't carry the $50ish Bissell that fits in the tiny linen closet. Nothing larger will work for us, and it looks like they stopped making the one I've used for years. http://www.samstores.com/details.asp?ProdID=4310 Maybe this is the replacement? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=9604712

SO, can you guys help me find a replacement asap or tell me about the Miele I can walk down the street and buy at our local vacuum cleaner shop? Pretty please? Oh, and playgroup's going to be at our house today, so I would love to go pick it up this morning. DH is trying out the Swivel Sweeper I picked up to try out.

ETA: We have all hardwoods, vinyl in the kitchen ;), 3 rugs, and FLOR in the mudroom. I need one vacuum to work on all those surfaces perfectly.

I'm very happy with this one (mine is an older model). It does well on hard floor and carpet.
On a different note, I also got the Bissell Flip-It and I HATE IT!!!! argh....

I've been eyeing this one
http://www.target.com/Electrolux-Pronto-2-Stick-Vac/dp/B0007XOHQI/sr=1-3/qid=1222429550/ref=sr_1_3/602-6141889-1852664?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Aelectrolux&page=1

BJs has it for 79.99

Check the Around the House forum, there have been a few threads recently.

I don't know about the Miele stick vac, but I love my Miele canister! I have the red Antares model. It's tiny, very light (10 pounds or less), moves easily, and you can hang the wand up on the canister itself so you don't have to lean it against anything.

I have hardwood floors with area rugs. It works great for all of that without having to change the attachments. I went from vacuuming hardly ever (Kenmore and Dyson) to vacuuming almost daily because it's SO easy now.

I do kinda sorta wish I could've gotten the model with the ergonomic power handle, so I had a power button near my fingers. But it was waaaay too expensive. I was able to get a good deal on the Miele because I traded in my barely-used severely-disliked Dyson.
