these are a little different than the ones on Amazon...they have a cheaper retail price and a weight limit of 80 lbs vs 200 lbs. The ones on Amazon can hold an adult.

Overstock does also sell these "good" plasma cars/rollercoaster ride ons, but they are almost always out of stock.

This one is the one I got long ago. It may come back in stock, but I have no idea. I cannot tell the difference between the plasma n this one, but my sons can. It looks identical.

ah! I wondered about the price difference. I had bought the "good" ones from overstock months ago. I wonder if there is any big difference in the actual product?

Forgot to add - if your hubby is anything like mine - get the one that holds up to 200 lbs. lol.

Do your kids like these? Where do they use it? I have looked at them, but just wasn't sure. Thanks.

So the above site has a code for 20% during October on its home page (found this on another thread there--thanks). If you spend $65 shipping is free. That brought the car to $48 shipped. Take that Right Start!

I had ordered one through amazon a few months ago for a price like this - it was such a piece of junk - we were never able to fully put it together and it definitely doesn't work in the same way the 'original' plasma cars did that were $100 a year or two ago. they are mass produced now and very bad quality.

I ordered one for my twin boys for Christmas, I hope its a good purchase. I'm sure I'll test drive it a ton myself, lol. There is one where my son goes for occupational therapy, I want to get on it so bad but don't want to look like an idiot, lol!!

We bought 2 of the higher weight limit ones and my 3 year old & all her friends loooove it. My hubby & his friend played on them for a long time too. lol. Though - you need a reasonably smooth surface for them to work well.

For the poster who couldn't even properly assemble it - I hope you got a refund cuz that stinks.

I have never seen these before but they look pretty cool.

Why are they sooo good? Is it like a push car?

I picked one of these up brand new (wheels, etc not even out of the bag) at Goodwill for under $8, and DD has been LOVING it for several months now. She flies around the house using it as a regular old ride-on. Sometimes she uses the steering wheel the right way, but it made me get rid of the other ride-ons we have inside the house. Very good choice!

Does anyone use them outside? They have one at our local bounce house and the kids have a blast riding them around but it's a huge indoor area. I was wondering if it would work on smooth level pavement and sidewalks in good condition.

Yes, I bought my nephew one two years ago and he has used it outside on the sidewalk. he doesn't have much good space to use it on, so it doesn't get used as much as I thought it would.

Does anyone know if this one is made by PlaSmart? The weight limit on the PlasmaCar is 220 for smooth surfaces and 120 for rough, but the weight limits listed by are 200 and 130. DH is a big guy and I need the higher limit. :)

It doesnt look like it's a Plasma car. Here's a review someone listed........

I purchased a "Plasma Car" for my daughter's 2nd birthday. (I was concerned that she may be too young, but she has NO problems using it- she goes slower than the older kids, but that is fine by me!) I wanted to buy a second car, as so many of the reviews recommended, but did not want to pay the higher price tag for a 2nd Plasma. So I decided to go with one of these. Having compared the two products I can say that they are both worth every penny. The Plasma car does seem to be made (just slightly) stronger. The plastic seems a bit more heavy duty. And I did have to tighten that center bolt again after using the "Coaster Car". But it works GREAT. They look practically IDENTICAL. Well worth the money you save on this generic version. I would not hesitate to buy this car again.

Thanks to the OP and to those who responded. I just bought 2 cars for a total of $80.98 (free shipping on Overstock.com, and I used the 10% code). It feels so good to start the Christmas shopping early!

I just came back to this thread because I decided to buy one. I think I am going with the one at Learning Express (Plasma Car)- on sale for 49.99 and a $10 off 50 coupon (may have to buy filler). I can't find weight limit though.

I don't see the one on sale? Could you post a link, please? The ones I'm seeing are $69.99 and it says that there is an additional shipping charge of $10.

yeah, the website does have them at full price - those are the ones that in our local store have been 49.99 for at least a month. The Catalog we just got also has them at 49.99 but I don't think you can place an order form the catalog (this is also where the 10 off 50 coupon is). Sorry, must be just in store. Also, FYI - entire store is supposed to be 20% on black friday.

Costco has it online. I haven't seen it in their store. They have blue/pink/red. Its the one that can hold up to 220 pounds.

Just noticed that costco's site says "not recommended for hardwood or laminate floors"....does anyone use these on wood floors. That's what we have and I would think they would work great on wood......or is it just a damage/scratch disclaimer...
