The DVD player just went out in our car and is going to cost a ton to fix. So I thought I would just buy one or more portable ones. We have a mini van. My two youngest sit in the middle seats with my older child in the rear. I either want one with two screens for the younger two and maybe a separate one with headphones for my older DC. Any ideas? We are heading on a long trip soon , so I need to buy it ASAP.

Thanks, Ann

we had good luck with our Audiovox brand DVD player for the car! I think Target carries them.

I bought the cheapest one from Wal-Mart that had the largest screen in 2004. We only use it on trips, but it still works fine.

Thanks! For some reason I did not think to go to Target. I checked Best Buy and Circuit City and neither of them had much.

If you're a Costco member, they have a Panasonic player that has a rebate on it right now. I got it for our long road trip last month and it worked great. I especially liked that it came with a headrest mounting bracket. The bracket secures around the headset and then the player snaps in.

From and Audio/Visual perspective, Panasonic makes great portable DVD players...I use one myself when I travel...mine has dual headphone jacks so two people can listen...

I had purchased a player at Target on clearance (one of the Audiovox models) but after reading reviews repeatedly stating that players died very quickly, I decided not to take the chance. While researching, I definitely saw a difference in quality and overall satisfaction. I would research any brand/model before buying. Considering that I could not find an inexpensive player with consistently good reviews, I ultimately decided to spend a little more for a player that had great reviews. We are very happy with the Sony player we selected:
