We are considering the Plan Toys My First Dollhouse for our DD, who will be 3 in December. Just wondering if anyone has this dollhouse and can tell me what furniture works best with this dollhouse?

Any other suggestions---I'd like to keep the dollhouse and furniture under $100 total.

thanks!!

I don't have this one but I can tell you that I've been considering the Plan Toys Chalet dollhouse with furniture from Barnes and Noble. They have a coupon code for members for 20% off. I plan to combine that and the member discount to get it shipped to me for about $120, I think. Not under $100 but pretty good for a nice dollhouse and furniture included.

There are a ton of old threads on wooden dollhouses--probably everything out there and more. Definitely do a search, if you haven't already.

There was a Leaps and Bounds one mentioned recently that came with furniture (Parents/Battat) that got great reviews here. It was over $100 though.

On KBtoys.com here's a nice girly one for $99 including furniture and dolls (don't know about shipping). Based on the dollhouse dolls, I think it may be by Maxim:

Here's another one on KBtoys.com for $99 including furniture and dolls. It's by Maxim and is a knock-off of the Plan Toys Terrace Dollhouse. I have a smaller version I got from Target years ago; the quality is definitely not as nice as real Plan Toys stuff, but it's a good value.

I actually do have the Plan Toys My First Dollhouse, and my DD never really played with it. I think it was a little too small and a little too hard to access the rooms well. When DD was younger, I tried to have somewhat gender neutral toys but that didn't work; DD is a girly girl and would have been more excited about a girly dollhouse. As for furniture, what about the Plan Toys furniture that is "supposed" to go with it--Classic? I think that'll bring you above $100 though. Other all-inclusive Plan Toys dollhouses: Prima Dollhouse (only $49?), and City Home ($45)--no people though. I've got the City Home as well. I like the quality of the furniture better than Maxim's, but I don't like the style of the dollhouse itself.

ETA: I find that kids don't care about the quality of the furniture; it's really the adults who care.

Thanks! The Chalet dollhouse is now looking better to me...even though it is over $100. Now to see how close I can get it to $100........that will be the game. =)

Please post if you find a way to get it closer to $100! Be careful when you are looking that some places sell the Chalet without the furniture and then it is cheaper but of course, not really since you'd need to buy the furniture.

Sure! So far I've been able to find it for $127.50 w/coupon code OCT2008..at oompa. That might be the best deal I can find....so I just might take it. =)
