View Full Version : Do you grease and flour your cake pan?
Or just grease? I'm making a carrot cake and it calls to be greased but sometimes I see recipes that say to grease and flour. Any advice?

I do what the recipe calls for. If it says grease only, that is what I do.

I grease and flour out of habit. I actually really enjoy flouring cake pans. Weird thing to enjoy, but I do, LOL.

I thought that title might have been a euphemism for something!
To answer your question, yes.

I only grease, but I use Wilton cake release which a MIRACLE product as far as I'm concerned.

I used to grease (crisco) and flour, but now I just spray with non-stick spray. It is definitely not something I enjoy, lol.
If I want to go all-out, I use parchment. But that usually is reserved for fancy stuff.

I do whatever the recipe calls for. The carrot cake recipe that I make calls for butter, flour and a round of parchment at the bottom. Those cakes practically jump out of the pan at me =)

I use the Pam for baking. My carrotcakes & pumpkin bread slide right out.

I also grease and flour (out of habit)...the way my grandmother used to do it.

I use canola oil mostly, but when I think the cake will stick to the pan, I use canola and parchment paper.
But then, I'm allergic to most flours, so I have to improvise.

I use that too and really like it. I also use parchment paper.

I use wax paper, like my mom did, on the bottom of the pan. I have never had a problem getting my cake out.

I just PAM it. They have Pam with flour now for baking.
