All of the children's birthday's are close (6 weeks) I found a good deal ($6 instead of $20) on a nice wooden toy at a local store. Can I buy 5 and give them at every birthday party?

I have done it in the past (when there were the great deals on the Williams-Sonoma monogrammed aprons, I think I ordered a dozen) so I say definitely YES, go for it!

Don't see why not! We've given pretty much the same gift to every kid we know this year! (They Might be Giants, here come the 123s)

YES! If it is a gift you think your DC would enjoy then I see no reason why not. This year several playgroup friends got the same gift for the same reason, great price on a great toy. You can always personalize it a bit by tying a different little something special to the ribbon, like a little animal or car or something.
I'd go for it!

Several people in my mom's group go this route. We have a birthday season with a bunch of kiddos b-days all grouped together. No one seems to mind.

I have done that too!The 8 kiddos in our group are within 3 months of each other. So I have done the same gift for everyone. It is easy b/c our group usually doesn't open presents at the parties and we tend to meet away from our homes so most would have no way of knowing! I will say though- most do know b/c we have talked about it...
