Like so many people, I have a Baby Bjorn... DS2 LOVES, LOVES it (facing outward). He will spend all day in the Bjorn and is happy as can be. My shoulders and back, however, are not loving it!

I am only 4'11" and DS2 is a large baby (DH's dad is big) - at 4.5 months he is 26.75 inches long and pushing 17 lbs. I can't carry him much longer in this. He absolutely hates, hates strollers so the only way I can get anything done is to wear him in the Bjorn.

Are there any other options out there (for short moms!) where DS2 can front face that may not kill my back and shoulders so much??

ETA: I also need something that I can put DS2 in by myself... I've become a pro at the Bjorn!

There was a small learning curve but I am now very, very happy with my Beco Butterfly. It works well for more petite moms. I upgraded from the Bjorn at 8m b/c I just couldn't take the shoulder pain from the Bjorn anymore. Instant relief, I tell you! I can now where my almost 11m old w/o any pain. I bought a returned one from Frog Mama. That site has a great return policy, btw.

Now that I have suceeded in finding a light weight stroller that does not hurt my back, my latest venture is to find a carrier that will do the same. Now that DD2 is getting bigger, she is heavier and not as fond of her pouch. I also prefer a carrier in which the baby can face out if possible. The pikkolo seems to have good feedback. I have not seen any discussion of the Obi by Beco on the board. It has a 25 lb. weight limit, but is less expensive too if you do not plan to use a carrier post 25 lbs. The Action Baby Carrier by Optave is literally from a mom and pop operation.

Here are a few to consider:

if your baby loves to face out then the catbird baby pikkolo is your best choice. my daughter loves to face out so we got the pikkolo for that. it's one of the few carriers out there that allows the baby to face out. it can face out, face in, hip carry and back carry.

i love it a lot. i'm only 5'2 and have a bad back but the pikkolo never gave me any problems.

what's nice too is that they've released 6 new prints this month so there's so much to choose from!
