Gift for a Second Child

A friend of mine just had her second child, and I am hoping to get some good advice about a nice gift in the $40-50 range. Both kids are girls, so she doesn't really need a lot of the typical stuff. Thanks in advance.

I like to have some new clothes for the new baby. Diapers are always needed and so expensive. I think a great gift. Gift card are always nice. My friend just a her second girl two weeks ago. I purchased two Carters outfits and really cute carters 2on a hanger long sleeved onies to match, bibs and really cute rattles set. It cost 54.00.

FWIW, when I buy gifts for baby #2 or 3, I usually gift wrap a small gift for the older sibling(s) too.

We just got a Baby Briefcase with a BabyGap gift card - both were VERY welcome for DS#2, even though we have an over-full wardrobe from DS#1.

i vote personalized. something for THAT baby. a blanket with name and birthday embroidered, a silver up or rattle with monogram engraved... even just some onesies with her name on them. i LOVED having specials things that we JUST for dylan.

I always get the baby new clothes b/c I feel they deserve something new.

I also like to do a gift card to somewhere practical so they can get what they really need (think Target).

I always buy the new sibling a present. I was so surprised how few people did that for ds1 since I always do it for other people.

And I buy something for the mom (book, candies, bubble bath...).

A friend is due any day now and I was planning on getting her either/or some burp cloths and the production onesie/shirt.
