Finalized (with pic)!

Well we had our re-rescheduled Finalization hearing for Ben yesterday and it all went off without a hitch. (it was scheduled for 10/23 originally - then rescheduled for 11/21 - then we managed to get it rescheduled again for 10/23)

Turns out the judge is an adoptive mom herself - one girl from Guatemala and one from China - she said they had looked into Korea but they were too old (which seemed odd - she looked pretty young to me)

Here's a so-so pic from the day - unfortunately - none of the pictures my sister took for us turned out too good.

The thing I love about Adoption.. well lots of things is that you will celebrate their birthday, their adoption day etc.. forever! It's so special.

Congratulations! What a wonderful day for your family and a joyous event.

I love how adoption finalizations are celebrations now. When my brother and I were adopted (early 1970s), finalizations were done without the family present. The judge signed the papers in his chambers and the parents received a copy through the mail. At the time, it was thought that little children should not be taken to the courthouse for this. I wish we could have had a photo like this!
