How to store medjool dates?

DH and I both love medjool dates but seem to have problems with keeping them fresh after we open a box. How do you store medjool dates - at room temp or in the refrigerator?

I think the problem might be that since they look like a dried fruit, many people treat them like a dried fruit that will keep at room temperature for eons. They're a fresh fruit and they only keep for a couple of months from the time they're picked. They'll keep in the refrigerator for maybe a year and you can freeze them and they'll keep for even longer. HTH

Our problem is that any dates we buy disappear within a matter of days, if not hours!

but we *try* to store them in the fridge, in something airtight...

Open them up, pit them, stuff them with cheese and wrap them in bacon. Bake on a cookie sheet at 350 until the bacon is crispy and you store them in your tummy!
