This will be our first winter in NYC and we need to get DC a new blanket for her twin bed. All she has right now are in the crib size. I am not sure whether it is a good idea to get a comforter at this point. She is already 2.5 yrs old. So no more SIDs risk?

I would like to get an organic and machine washable one. I found some on-line but am not sure whether they are good.

Any suggestions? TIA!

There's no way I'd go with the third one - chenille is pretty delicate and won't hold up to the washing/drying that kids' bedding requires (if that one is even machine washable and dryable - it doesn't say).

We have a wool-filled comforter (like a down comforter, but filled with fluffy wool) by Bowron that is just heavenly. I used to replace our down comforters every few years because the down would break down and permanently shift, but this has held up perfectly. It is a bear to clean, so we keep the dogs off the bed when it is in use (and move it far out of the way if someone has a stomach bug), so it's probably not what you want for her bed. But based on my experience, I'd vote for the cotton/wool (first link) of the three that you posted. I wonder how long it will take to dry when you wash it??
