Does anyone know if neti pots really work to clear up sinus issues? Is it hard to do? I've been wondering about them, but I don't know anyone who has actually tried one.
TIA

J. said she tried one when she had a cold recently and it worked really well. She was happy since she is preggo and couldn't really take any meds. Never tried myself but am quite interested to hear.

Yup, I got desperate enough to try it about a month ago and it worked well. Not hard to do at all. Just kind of freaky until you get the hang of it. I was so clogged up that I would have to stop and blow my nose several times as the saline had nowhere to go, but once I was able to get it through, it flushed my sinuses really well.

I tried one last spring on the strength of some recommendations I got from this board and it worked wonders, really and truly! I was pregnant at the time and trying to avoid using a bunch of OTC and prescription meds, and figured the Neti pot would be worth a try. It takes a little while to get the hang of it, but I can't say enough good things about it. I hope you'll give it a try!

Ok, thanks for the encouragement. I have a lingering cold and am just sick of putting medicine in my body that doesn't seem to be helping. I think I'll go find myself a neti pot tomorrow!

My mom uses hers regularly and swears by it. She even has my dad (the skeptic LOL) doing it, and he promotes it to his friends now ;)

For all of my crunchy leanings, I've never used one.

Ayr has a Saline Nasal Rinse Kit with a unique flow squirt bottle (you can do it upright) and 100 saline rinse mixture pockets. I think it would be gentler using a Neti pot since it's gravity-driven but the Ayr bottle works great too - you just have to be careful not to squirt too hard. I didn't mind it at all.

I was using Baby Ayr on DS2 at the same time as I was using the Neti pot on me. It helped him a ton.

DH and I started using it about a year ago. It is AMAZING. I was totally freaked to try it but I am so glad I did. It makes a HUGE difference for colds, allergies, and sinus issues. It is easy, no issues.

LOVE my Neilmed neti pot. Can't get through change of seasons, allergies, colds without it. I got mine at Walgreens last year. It is awesome and easy to learn. I use it in the shower.

I use a squirt bottle saline rinse, Neilmed, that is similar in concept to the Netipot and it works really well.

The link is to the pediatric version on Amazon -- I have the regular one but I don't have tiem to search Amazon to find the right one.

FYI, I was able to pick mine up at Target, so you might be able to find it locally rather than ordering online and waiting for delivery.

This is what I use too. The exact one I get is:

Its much easier to use than the neti pot and does the same thing. I can't even begin to tell you how helpful these are when I have sinus problems.

I couldn't find an OTC inhaler today, so got the neti pot at Walgreens. Tried it! WEIRD sensation!!! It seems to have helped the whole cold aspect of my asthma thing. DH went searching for the OTC inhaler tonight and I am finally feeling a little better.

Funny thing was, I came home and saw this on Yahoo...

I saw Dr. Oz recommend one about a year ago on Oprah. The people who tried on the came back to say they loved it. Now that you can get one relatively easily I would give it a try. :)

Both DH and I swear by them. It is nice to use a natural solution, rather than drugs. For colds don't forget the Vick Vaporizer, they are cheap and work!
